Tomlinson, Farry Announce Grant Funding Secured for Bridge Replacement in Bensalem

January 20, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. K.C. Tomlinson (R-Bucks) and Sen. Frank Farry (R-Bucks) today announced Bensalem Township has been awarded funding for a bridge replacement project through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).

Bensalem will receive $285,397 to replace a bridge along Newport Mews Drive. The project will stabilize a portion of the bridge embankment by installing riprap along both sides of the stream channel to prevent further deterioration. Additionally, bridge headwall cracks will be repaired, a new guiderail will be installed, and reinforced concrete pipe will replace the existing corrugated metal pipe culverts under the bridge.

“This is excellent news for residents of Bensalem Township,” said Tomlinson. “The bridge in question is the only access point for a development that holds 300 residents of our community. This funding will allow for necessary repairs that will make sure this bridge is safe for those coming and going from their homes.”

"I am committed to supporting the safety of our communities and I am pleased Rep. Tomlinson and I were able to secure this important funding for Bensalem Township,” said Farry.

Funds from the MTF may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
